Our Babies Have Fur

Growing up we always had a dog. Not always just a dog, a plethora of animals. We had really good dogs and really bad dogs. But, I never had a dog of my own.

Reo as well has always grown up with dogs around. Of course living on the ranch they always had border collies and working dogs. On his 12th birthday he got a pug and named him Otis.

When we started dating I knew how special Otis was to him. It was kind of crazy to think that Somebody could love a dog as much as Reo loved Otis.

Like I said, we had dogs. I loved all of my dogs but none of them were really mine like Otis was Reo’s.

In 2019 Reo had to make the really hard decision to put Otis to sleep. Otis was getting daily shots of insulin for diabetes, he was going blind and that happened really quickly. Looking back on it now. I was really not super empathetic to the whole situation. I knew what needed to be done but that was easy for me to say. I never had to make that hard decision to one of my furry friends.

When I moved away, I didn't have a dog. I really struggled with my mental health in those four years that I didn’t have a dog. I also wanted to live in our house with no animals. I was bound and determined to live for at least a year with no animals in our house.

Well, that lasted a whole three months. I had seen on Facebook that our really good family friend that raises Aussies had a litter for sale. I knew that I wanted a dog from her bloodline. My sister had Loui and he is a really great dog.

So, I brought it up to Reo. At first he had to remind me that I didn’t want dogs in the house. Haha! I had to put the hard sell on it for sure. He finally gave in when I suggested to just message her and see what she wants for them. That’s just what I did!

From this picture of all these little puppies I picked a little red merle boy. I think about that moment often. I think about picking out the most perfect little guy off of a picture and never meeting him before I went to pick him up.

On a snowy February day. My best gal Whitney and I set out on an adventure to Montana to pick up this puppy. The roads were not fun and it was a long day. When we got to our meeting spot, he was given to me. Whitney asked where the rest of him was because he was so tiny! When we got back in the pickup I just cried. I knew I had made the best decision.

This is when Murphy became a member of the family. He is the best boy in all of the world. No matter how long you have been gone he is always happy to see you. He is a momma’s boy to the core. Even now, while I am sitting here in my chair typing on my laptop he is laying on the arm rest right beside me.

Not more than a couple months later. Reo sent me a picture of this little black, white, and brown puppy. Reo has always wanted a French Bulldog. There were a couple reasons why we never got one. First off, they're stupid expensive. Second, they have lots of health problems.

When he found this puppy. It was a frenchie mixed with an aussie. Of course, I had no choice but to give in. Murph couldn’t be an only child. So, then came Daryl. He is a character for sure. That dog LOVES to chase cows and anything that has to do with the fourwheeler.

Murph is definitely a baby and he knows it. I can now understand what Reo went through with Otis. I am so glad that hopefully we have many more years with our two buttheads. So, for now. We are happy with our babies with fur.

Mothers Day

I have been absent on here for a hot minute. Most days are good. A couple days are hard. We are in the thick of ranch work. But one day...
